Away We Go! :)

Well, the time has come! Last night Mike and I were up timing contractions from about 4AM until 6AM. They were irregular and nothing to rush to the hospital for. Woke up this morning with even more sporadic contractions and went to the dr. (had an appt. scheduled). Not any regular timing or intensity. One would be mild, and the next would be omigosh I might pass out painful. Fun times :)

Turns out those contractions were not in vain. Cervix is now 3-4 inches dilated and paper thin according to doc! She has scheduled us for an induction tomorrow morning at 7am but feels pretty confident that I'll go on my own today/tonight. That being said, I am now having pretty regular contractions so am signing off but had to update everyone.

Pics to come soon - looks like Baby S will be making his/her debut by tomorrow for sure! Looking to be back home by Thursday, per the doctor. I can't believe it's all finally happening!!!

Baby S Update

FYI on last night’s trip to the dr. . . baby still hasn’t dropped and I’m not dilated, however, doc said it’s a good sign that my cervix is definitely softening. So… progress there. She asked us to come in on Monday to determine whether or not I’m “inducible” next week and hoping that I will be – we’ll induce Tuesday AM or Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. (Actually hoping that something happens next week ON IT’S OWN for the love…. But we’ll see!)

Fingers crossed that I will be inducible b/c if I’m not, she said we would actually wait b/c she doesn’t want to push nature which is good and I’d agree although waiting sounds like torture, I want what is best for baby and I. She definitely would use a C-section as a last option as she (and I think most docs) prefer natural births over C-sections always. She did say that the baby is growing about a ½ a pound every week and is already big so pray that I’m inducible next week!

So, taking back that we’d definitely have a baby by Easter – not necessarily a guarantee but certainly a prayer! :)

High in the Sky

High in the sky - that is how my doctor described where baby is right now. Meaning, he/she is perfectly content where he/she is and will likely not be making an early appearance. No dropping, no dilation, no nothing. I do keep hoping to hold out until the due date b/c that means a longer break into summer so my friend Jenny said "look, baby is already doing what you want!". Good point :) Makes up for all the madness my body is going through, I suppose. Dr. said next week we'll take another look but my last appointment will be on my due date so we'll likely be scheduling an induction b/c she's going to be out of town for Easter and said we gotta get that baby out before she leaves. So... at least we know we'll have a baby by Easter but Baby can still come any time he/she feels the need until then. Yet, I don't think he/she feels the need at all. Waiting for Spring to be officially here I think...

So as I said, it was our 2nd to last dr. appointment (in theory) last night and Mike came with me. He is seriously a clown in the room and I kept thinking that I might have to set him straight a couple of times in the labor and delivery room. He kept talking to the dr. about the Bucks (she's a season ticket holder and a huge fan). Mind you, he's talking playoffs while she is doing an INTERNAL EXAM on me... get the picture? ... and the baby was just kind of a side note ;) THEN, he proceeded to play his recording of me snoring for the doctor. Wonderful, thank you kind husband. She thought it was funny of course but said at least my snoring was regular so I guess that's a plus????

Mike's co-workers threw us a shower over lunch today complete with a pizza party and cake. People's generosity never ceases to amaze me. Such a gesture and we were just floored. This baby has yet to arrive and is already the most loved, blessed and spoiled baby around.

Baby supposedly weights at least 7 lbs right now and will not be a small one, per the doctor. 13 more days (more or less haha)!

Full Term Watermelon

Today I'm 37 weeks. That's full term. That means baby can come any day now. Crazy!

These last weeks have been really hard on my body. Here are some of the fabulous things that have happened over the last couple of weeks:

Snoring/sleep apnea - I snore so loud that Mike can't even take it. He recorded me one night and I laughed until I cried b/c I cannot believe that noise came out of me!!! It even wakes me up at night and is causing problems with my breathing while I sleep - yet another thing to keep me up at night.

Aches and pains - nobody ever warned me about how my body would hurt. Every day I get out of bed, my joints and bones feel like I either have arthritis or did an ironman triathlon the day before.

Cankles - the swelling came on so suddenly and now it's hard to get it to go away. It makes me feel that much fatter. Such fun!

and the best for last . .. .Stretch marks - I've made it all this way without them and now they decide to show up. Great! Luckily they are really light but still enough to bug me! I will be using any and all kinds of skin therapy after the birth b/c apparently if you're gonna get them, you're gonna get them and there's nothing you can do about it - I've been lubing my belly up vigilantly and still... they showed up. I don't know why I'm surprised - my belly is so huge (see pic). It just keeps growing out and out like a torpedo and I guess my skin can only take so much stretching.

I went to the doc today and nothing new is happening with my cervix, and the baby still has not dropped. I asked her how big she estimates Baby to be and her words were "Well, I can tell you it's not a small baby". HAHA... Then, she felt around a bit and said she thought it was at least seven pounds now and if I go 40 weeks we're looking at at least an 8 pounder. Nice healthy chunker, I like it ;) Let's hope I can pop him/her out with no problems!

So, baby is the size of a watermelon now and is moving around all the time now - I think he/she is ready to get out! I am so so anxious to meet Baby S now. We just can't wait to finally hold him/her! Three more weeks and counting. . .
