First SMILE! :)
I just had to document this occasion and wish I had a pic. I tried but it's so hard to get a pic while also trying to relish the moment!
Yesterday I got my first real smile from Gabe. Talk about melting a Mommy's heart. It was a REAL smile too. Up until now I had gotten a few "dream" smiles with his eyes closed that I'm pretty sure had nothing to do with me :) But, yesterday I had him in his bassinet and he totally locked eyes with me. So, I was talking and smiling at him and all of a sudden he just BEAMED back at me. It was amazing. It was completely on his own and looking at me so that's why I call it the first real one. So beautiful.

Gabe Checkup Updates
I forgot to update his 1 week checkup so I'm going to do that and then today's one month check up (one month has really gone by?!).
1 week:
Wt: 8 lbs, 10.5 oz (75%)
Length: 22 inches (98%)
Head: 36 cm (90%)
1 month: (off the charts on all!)
Wt: 11 lbs, 12.5 oz (above 90%)
Length: 23 1/2 inches (above 98%)
Head: 38 cm (75%)
Dr. Linsmeier said he looks perfect. All I need to hear! I could tell in the past month that he is changing and bulking up. We put on a newborn pj and it was tight and Mike was very sad. He said "I missed it already!" I assured him he didn't miss anything... :) We have definitely enjoyed little Gabe and relish his "smallness" especially in comparison to his big sister! He makes sure we spend quality time with us by waking us up in the middle of the night to say hi.
Speaking of his big sister, she came with me to Gabe's appointment today and I called Mike at the last minute to meet us. I'm so glad I did b/c she had a complete meltdown. She hates that place so much and was screaming at the top of her lungs... no matter how much I assured her this appointment was for Gabe. Once Dr. Linsmeier came in though, she was totally fine. There is a reason why the doctors themselves don't give shots or do any of the scary stuff to the kids! She ran up to her and gave her a hug and kept saying her name and talking to her. So sweet and by the end of the appointment she was totally fine and forgot she was ever upset. As a reward we took her to Dr. Dawg for a hot dog lunch :) And as my reward, I got to have a fun lunch with the whole fam!

Mother's Day 2012
This past Sunday was my THIRD Mother's Day, believe it or not! It was absolutely perfect; I got to spend the entire day with my whole family and got completely spoiled by Mike. He really is the best husband and father to my children that I could ever ask for. I felt overwhelmingly blessed this Mother's Day because I have two beautiful, healthy and happy children and the perfect husband and father and that all makes me the happiest mother I can be. I definitely was not expecting a gift as we are on a tight budget these days! :) Lots of home improvements, and now with two kids... we're just trying to be smart and frugal. But, Mike completely surprised me with a gorgeous and meaningful gift - a charm bracelet with puzzle piece charms with Sofia and Gabe's names and birthdays engraved on them. Amazing. Totally made me cry when I opened it and even he got teary. I can't say it enough... so blessed. I felt such love on this day and there's no better job I have ever had than being a mother.
Started the day off with Starbucks in bed with my whole family. Need I say more? Went to church, had a delicious Mexican brunch, and then took a nice long nap with the kids :) Then, we spend the afternoon at the beach - a beautiful hidden treasure just a mile from our house! Topped the day off with a steak dinner and glass of wine. Perfection!
